Just another tibit…

27 Apr

For lunch today, I had Egg and Banana pancakes. Here’s the recipe for these delicious pancakes packed with potassium and protein.

Ingredients:

2 eggs

1 banana

nutella or another substitute (optional)

Mash the banana and mix well with the egg. Spray a non-stick pan with cooking oil (pam, i think it’s called…) and cook them well on medium heat until brownish. Spread with yummynummy nutella and eat.

Yeah, they look gross, but are you going to risk that? IT’S NUTELLA, PEOPLE!!!!

I did the last 8 pages today on my deck- what a beautiful day, finally. It took us a while to get here….

We watched the movie “Radio” last night. It was really great, and now I’ve been thinking (well, I was thinking about it before the movie too….) about doing something with special education in college. Of course, our situation with mentally challenged people today is a lot different than then… But still.

So yeah…

Craft Contest

24 Apr

So…. Another contest.

Here’s a little backstory, first of all. I’m teaching 2 little girl ballet camps (3-5, 5-8 year olds) this summer. First of all, tell your friends! Have them email me at acflowerpower@gmail.com if they want more information, please! The 3-5 year old ballet camp is princess themed, and the 5-8 year old camp is nature (flower/rainbow, etc) themed. We’ll be doing crafts, ballet, and snack.

So here’s the contest-

Craft ideas. I need as many princess and nature craft ideas as possible! The top two win- one for each category- and you’ll get a guest post! So please start emailing them in to acflowerpower@gmail.com ASAP!!!

You can submit as many as you want, in either category, and I’ll judge them and pick my favorites.

So hurry and send ’em in! Don’t you want that guest post?

Coffee Cake in a Mug

15 Mar

I absolutely hate breakfasts.

IMG_9156

I find cereal, toast, and anything else except bacon and eggs disgusting.

IMG_9151

I usually eat leftovers from the fridge when I eat breakfast.

IMG_9152

But the story isn’t over. I found a delicious, fast, and easy recipe for coffee cake in a cup.

IMG_9150

Well, this was a few months ago, and I have made the mugcake several times since. Here is the recipe.

Coffee Cake in a Mug

IMG_9134

Ingredients:

1 tbs butter

2 tbs sugar

1 egg

2 tbs sour cream

vanilla

1/4 cup all purpose flour

1/8 tsp baking powder

crumb topping (see below)

OR

Nutella (not both, that’s gross.)

Procedure:

1. SOFTEN not melt the butter in a large mug in the microwave.

IMG_9137

2. Fork in the sugar until creamy.

IMG_9138

IMG_9139

3. Add some egg. I usually use a whole one, but you don’t have to. Mix.

IMG_9140

4. Add the sour cream and some DROPLETS of vanilla. Not dribbles. Droplets. Mix.

IMG_9143

5. Add 2 tbs of nutella IF you are using it.

IMG_9142

6. Add the flour. I used gluten free, but it’s the same for regular flour. Also add the baking powder. Mix.

IMG_9145

7. If you didn’t add nutella, mix the following with your fingers in a small bowl and sprinkle on top (I didn’t):

1 tbs butter

2 tbs flour

1 tbs brown sugar

1/2 tsp cinnamon

IMG_9148

8. Put in microwave for one minute MAKING SURE IT DOESN’T GO OVER THE TOP! If it still looks REALLY wet and jiggles when you shake it, microwave for 10 seconds more. If needed, 10 seconds more. I usually do 1 minute and 15 seconds.

IMG_9153

9. Eat. Careful, it’s hot.

We bought some Trader Joe’s “Cocoa Almond Spread”. It tastes just like Nutella, but a VERY faint almondy taste and it’s a bit less sticky. BUT it has way less fat and sugar. Yes, please.

How to Take in a T-shirt

15 Mar

Ever get a big, boxy t-shirt from a performance, church event, or club?

IMG_9011

Here’s how to take it in so it fits like a normal tee.

1. Start with your shirt- I have already cut off the neck, do so if wanted. It depends on how tight it is around your neck. Mine was pretty tight, so I cut it off.

2. Turn the shirt inside out and smooth it on a floor or table. Make sure there are no creases or folds in the fabric.

IMG_9012

3. Place a normal t-shirt (or one you’ve already taken in, in my case) onto the shirt. Line up the SHOULDERS and the top of the sleeves FIRST. Then smooth it out all the way, making sure there are no creases or folds.

IMG_9014

4. Draw with a marker around the edges of the shirt on the following places: under the sleeves, down the sides of the shirt. Go all the way to the edges of the working shirt, not the model shirt. (See picture below)

IMG_9017

5. Remove the model shirt. Pin directly on the lines.

IMG_9018

6. Sew all along the lines, making sure to stay right on the lines.

IMG_9027

7. Turn the shirt right side out. DO NOT FEAR! I know it will be all bunched up-this is due to the extra fabric inside the shirt! We’ll fix this in a minute. First, try on the shirt and make sure it fits. If it doesn’t, make adjustments with a marker and sew again.

IMG_9028

8. Turn the shirt back inside out and cut off the excess fabric on the outside of the sewn edge. Also to the sleeves!

IMG_9029

IMG_9031

9. Turn the shirt right side out and try it on one more time. If there are bubbly parts, turn it back inside out, and mark/pin/sew it again.

IMG_9032

11. Congratulations! You took in the shirt! You can also hem the neckline and shorten the bottom if wanted/needed.
